James Wan and David F. Sandberg Reunite for Netflix Horror Movie Below

Both Aquaman director James Wan and Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has made his horror debut, with the pair reuniting for the upcoming Netflix movie Belowby Deadline. No plot details have been revealed at this stage other than that it is a “genre thriller”, with Sandberg directing from a script by Greg Weidman and Geoff Tock, with Wan serving as producer. In addition to being exciting that the pair have gone from horror to big-budget superhero movies, Wan had cast Sandberg to direct. Annabelle: Creationa fallout of Conspiracy Wan series created in 2013.

Thanks to his success in the horror genre, Wan would go on to direct Furious 7paving the way for him to lead the solo Aquaman exit. As Wan gave audiences a return to horror with last year cleverhe recently wrapped production on the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Similarly, Sandberg recently wrapped production on the sequel. Shazam! Fury of the godswhich is set to hit theaters later this year.

Prior to ConspiracyWan had delivered films like Seen and Insidious, already establishing itself as an irresistible force in genre cinema. The fears of Conspiracy took his career to a whole new level, with this film inspiring multiple sequels, spinoffs, and prequels. The most recent entry in the series came with last year The conjuration: the devil made me do itmarking the first entry to the good Conjuring universe he had not ruled. The Conjuring 2 set the stage for a Crooked Man-focused spin-off of that film, though no updates on that project were revealed in the years since its announcement. The spin-off the nun would have a sequel, although no official update on this project has been shared recently.

Another of Wan’s franchises, Insidious, is set to get its fifth installment, which will see star Patrick Wilson make his directorial debut. Wilson will likely turn to Wan for advice, given how often they’ve collaborated on the Conjuring, Aquamanand Insidious movies, with longtime fans immensely excited to see the actor put his stamp on the series.
