PILATE’S FAITH returns to where it all began

I’ve written nearly half a million words about this hapless amateur sleuth with the funny name. When I first started writing, I never expected there to be more than one book, let alone a series. “

KANSAS CITY, MO, UNITED STATES, November 20, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – After nearly half a million words, it all comes down to faith in the eighth – and potentially the last – book in the John Pilate Mystery Series.

“I’ve written nearly half a million words about this hapless amateur sleuth with a funny name,” Kansas City author J. Alexander Greenwood said. “When I first started writing, I never expected there to be more than one book, let alone a series.”

The mysteries of John Pilate center on John Pilate, a university professor who has a knack for stumbling in mysterious and dangerous situations. The 2010 first series, PILATE’S CROSS, was based on an actual murder-suicide on a college campus in Nebraska. Subsequent novels in the award-winning series include PILATE’S KEY, PILATE’S GHOST, PILATE’S BLOOD, and PILATE’S ROSE. An acclaimed short story book, PILATE’S 7 and the new PILATE’S SHADOW complete the series, all published by Caroline Street Press.

Available exclusively on Amazon as a paperback and as an eBook on Black Friday, PILATE’S FAITH (2021, Caroline Street Press 245 pages $ 14.99 paperback, $ 6 eBook) finds Pilate in trouble, as usual.

Surviving a recent assassination attempt, Pilate Las returns to Cross Township, where a strange series of gunfire has crippled the small university town. Pilate joins forces with the county sheriff to find out why people are terrified on his behalf. But, unfortunately, when he turns to his family for support, he finds only hard hearts. People are dying, accusing fingers are pointed at him, and he has nowhere to turn.

Greenwood said he believes the series has run its course but is not completely closing the door on future adventures. “It really depends on the interest shown in this book,” he said. “And I have other irons in a creative way that I would like to explore before I revisit Pilate.”

In addition to the Mysteries of Pilate, Greenwood co-wrote and edited BIG CABIN AND DISPATCHES FROM THE WEST with the late Robert E. Trevathan. He also wrote Amazon’s Top Non-Fiction Sellers. THE PODCAST OPTION and KICKSTARTER SUCCESS SECRETS. He is a public relations consultant and passionate podcaster. Greenwood is the host and producer of two shows, Mysterious Goings On and PR After Hours.

Greenwood will be signing copies of the entire series at Afterword Tavern and Shelves in Kansas City on December 18, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
