Noomi Rapace’s horror movie gets January release date

Focus Features plans ‘moderate’ national theatrical release for writer / director Goran Stolevski’s supernatural horror film You will not be alone, and the release date they chose is January 28, 2022. Noomi Raptor (Prometheus) stars in the film, which takes place “in a remote mountain village in 19th century Macedonia”.

Stolevski’s story centers on

a young girl who is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit. Curious about human life, the young witch accidentally kills a peasant in the neighboring village, then takes the form of his victim to live the life in his skin. Her curiosity on fire, she continues to exercise this horrific power in order to understand what it means to be human.

Deadline notes that the shape-changing witch is played by different actors throughout the film. Rapace co-stars include Anamaria Marinca (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days), Alice Englert (ratchet), Carloto Cotta (Taboo), Félix Maritaud (Savage), and Sara Klimoska (Milcho Manchevski’s willow). However, they have not revealed which of the actors will play the witch.

The actors of the film deliver their lines in “an old Macedonian dialect”, then You will not be alone make comparisons with The witch due to the fact that both films combine the presence of a witch with an old style of dialogue.

You will not be alone was produced by Kristina Ceyton and Sam Jennings. The film ended production in Serbia early last year, at which time Focus pre-purchased the global rights. While Focus handles the national release, Universal Pictures International will release the film in international territories.

This film marks Stolevski’s first feature film. The filmmaker’s short film Would you watch her won the Best International Short Film award at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

i don’t expect to see You will not be alone during its theatrical release, but it looks interesting enough to verify at some point.
