Park Chan-Wook Returns With A Mystery Detective Starring Tang Wei And Park Hae-il

“Decision to leave” stars Hae-il Park (“memories of murder,” “The host”) as a detective sent to investigate an alleged murder in which a man fell to his death from a mountaintop. But the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are not what they seem, nor is the deceased’s mysterious wife, played by Tang Wei (“Long day trip into night,” “Black hat”), in which the detective has a particular interest.
Park is no stranger to the Cannes spotlight, having previously premiered “Oldboy” there in 2003, “Thirst” in 2009 and “The Handmaiden” in 2016.
Last week, it was announced that MUBI, the popular independent streaming service, had acquired “Decision To Leave” for distribution in North America – a deal brokered by CJ ENM, one of Korea’s biggest studios (“Parasite”), which also premiere another film at Cannes: Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s”Broker.”
