Based on the Hollywood film Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), Kaithi tells the story of a prisoner, who has just been released, becoming involved in deadly conflicts as he goes to meet his daughter. Karthi and Narain starred in the film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also has Telugu and Hind versions. There were no playing songs in this movie except for the background music. Kaithi was honored at the South Indian International Movie Awards as the best Tamil film.
