Trailer for Shudder’s new horror film ‘Good Madam’

The Horror Movie – the fourth feature by acclaimed South African filmmaker Jenna Cato Bass (High Fancy) – premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews and will land on Shudder on July 14.

good lady follows Tsidi, a single mother who is “forced to move in with her estranged mother Mavis – a domestic worker who obsessively cares for her catatonic white ‘Madame’ in an affluent Cape Town suburb,” according to the synopsis. But, as Tsidi tries to heal his family, “a sinister specter begins to stir”.

The film stars Chumisa Cosa, Nosipho Mtebe, Kamvalethu Jonas Raziya, Sanda Shandu, Khanyiso Kenqa, Sizwe Ginger Lubengu, Siya Sikawuti, Peggy Tunyiswa and Chris Gxalaba – all of whom share screenwriting credits with Bass.

Bass also produced the film, starring Kristina Ceyton (The Babadook) and Samantha Jennings (Cargo). Executive producers include Salman Al-Rashid, Sam Frohman, Richard Mansell, David Bass and Jason Newmark.
