Where to watch Boomika, Aishwarya Rajesh’s latest ecological horror movie

Where to watch Boomika: Tamil horror thriller Boumika, led by actor Aishwarya Rajesh, begins broadcasting on OTT today. Like many Bollywood and regional films, the directors of Boumika opted for an OTT release of the film instead of a theatrical release. However, as theaters gradually open up to viewers, thanks to the collapse of COVID-19 cases across the country, there is great confusion over the release of many upcoming films, including Boumika. So here’s what we know so far.

Written and directed by Rathindran R Prasad, Boumika is a fable that aims to raise awareness of how humans treat “mother nature” and how it needs to change.

Casting Boumika

The film will see popular Tamil-speaking actor Aishwarya Rajesh leading the way. She plays the role of a psychologist in the film, who lives near Ooty with her husband and son. The actor who has worked in films in several regional languages was seen earlier this year in the film Thittam Irandu. Some of his most notable films include Kanaa, Vada Chennai, Kaaka Muttai and Attakathi.

Besides Rajesh, the film also features actors Vidhu, Avantika Vandanapu, Madhuri Jain and Surya Ganapathy in key roles.

Land of Boumika

Supposed to be an eco-horror thriller, BoumikaA is about a psychologist named Samyuktha, played by Rajesh, who lives in a picturesque village near Ooty with his family. When her husband, a real estate project manager, partners with an architect on a project and the family moves to a desolate mansion for a retirement, things take an odd turn with paranormal activity taking over the narrative. Will Samyuktha succeed in saving his family? What led to the mysterious events of the mansion and does it have an ecological connection – that forms the crux of the film.
